My circuit board was using ATMega328P, and when I tried to order more, I had a very hard time finding that chip – it’s been discontinued, replaced by another chip which is not pin-compatible.
I’m considering using your pro mini ultra instead of the ATMega328p. Are you able to source the ATMega328P? If in the future you switch to another CPU, will that version of the Pro mini ultra be pin-compatible and software-compatible with your current pro mini ultra?
Thanks!Our Mini Ultra 8MHz is based on the ATMega328P. The assembled board is still in stock for now. Our newer upgrade although not pin-compatible but in same form factor is the Mini Ultra based on the newer ATMega4808 which is also in stock. Please take note that our boards are not in the same form factor as the Sparkfun’s Arduino Pro Mini. ATMega328P is also not being discontinued as far as I know, only a worldwide shortage due to the pandemic. There’s basically no stocks for most parts of IC in the world right now especially parts from Microchip and STM.
